West Indies Cherry (Malpighia emarginata)

The West Indies Cherry is known for its sweet but slightly tart fruit which is bright red. It is high in Vitamin C. It is best grown in dry, sandy soil and full sun. It takes three years for the tree to bear its fruit but once the fruit is ripe it can be used in food and to make juice and jam.
